Sunny Leone - The Hottest Star alive - Is she

Is History Repeating itself?
The new sensation that has been rocking the big screens has also raised a sense of deja-vu in the minds of people. Karenjit Kaur Vohra was born to a Sikh Punjabi couple in the mid summer of 1981. She discovered her bi-sexuality at the age of 18 and later she chose her profession as a porn star. She went out to become the 12th top most famous porn star in the world. Ironically Karenjit was enrolled in a Catholic school by her parents as they had felt that it was not safe for her to attend public school. The name does not seem to ring a bell in our minds, but this same porn star and bollywood actress is immediately recognized by everyone, both young and old by her stage name - "Sunny Leone".

Sunny has starred in more than 56 adult films and has directed more than 50 movies. She is also famous for her bold and seductive roles in Bollywood erotic thrillers like Jism 2, Ragini MMS, Hate Story 2 and the most recently released sex comedy film - "Mastizaade". She has captivated the minds of all the youth and old alike by her erotic beauty and boldness by going half nude on the big screens.

In an exclusive interview to filmmonkey, a youtube channel, Sunny Leone said that she joined the porn industry as she saw it as a huge business opportunity. To her, porn industry was just a business industry like any other and she saw herself as a professional. When she was announced as the Penthouse (Erotic Magazine) cover of the year and got an offer of $100,000 to be a porn star, she then informed her parents about the decision to join Porn industry. Even though it hurt and upset her parents a lot, she says that her parents eventually understood her because she was still their daughter and they accepted her since she had never changed in her personality and role as their child.

But behind the success of this star, there is also a shadow of doubt and fear brooding amongst few minds that she would end up like Silk Smitha, who also, once upon a time, captivated the minds and hearts on the big screens by her seductiveness. She was the most sought after erotic stars in the 80's. By her fate's game plan, she was found dead in her apartment at Chennai in 1996. Apparently, she had committed suicide due to depression and extreme financial crunches. Vijayalakshmi aka Silk Smitha was so famous and successful in her roles and erotic dance skills that even flop movies filled up the treasuries at the box office when they were re-released after adding a song with Silk's performance in between the story.

Over a period of 2 decades, Silk starred as an item dancer in more than 400 movies in South Indian languages.
People enjoyed the beauty and the romance on the screens till their minds no longer got the excitement it once used to get. And after a while, people became bored with Silk. Her movies were no longer popular. She became a victim of commercialization of women and an object of ridicule because of her poor choices. The very same magazines that once used to consider it as a privilege to feature Silk's photos on their pages to boost their sales no longer wished to even write anything good about her. This hypocritical behaviour of the masses led her to the painful disillusionment which eventually killed her soul.

Sunny Leone is now at her peak of success. But what will happen 5 to 10 years down the line? Will she still be viewed in the same limelight and excitement as she is seen now, or will she too suffer the same fate of rejection soon after all her youthful looks and 'talents' are sucked out of her to a point where people are no longer excited by her? Will Sunny be the next Silk? Only time can answer.
